Comedian Kieran Boyd has gained a legion of fans for his energetic, quirky and affable persona and is regularly praised for his well-characterised story-telling and his unique observational humour. He is known for his highly successful solo stand-up shows including Egg and Crashing the Party, and for being a member of the sketch group WitTank.
As one-third of sketch trio WitTank alongside Mark Cooper-Jones and Naz Osmanoglu, Boyd wrote and performed as part of this Edinburgh Festival Fringe sensation. The group enjoyed nine years of sell-out crowds at Edinburgh, and were nominated for Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival. They performed across the UK and Ireland, appeared on BBC Three’s Three at the Fringe, and were heard on Radio 4’s Sketchorama and BBC Radio Scotland. They starred in Live at the Electric, and filmed a sitcom pilot for E4, WitTank: The School.
As a solo performer, Boyd achieved initial recognition as a semi-finalist in So You Think You’re Funny in 2009, and in Amused Moose Laugh-Off the following year. He gained early experience compering the showcase Comedy Baby, and performed as part of the prestigious The Comedy Zone, which has helped launch the careers of many of Britain’s top comedians. In 2016, he took his debut show, Egg, to Edinburgh, to rave reviews, and has had similar success since, including with 2019’s Crashing the Party. The show looks back on his whirlwind time with WitTank and sees him looking to the future. Now performing regularly for Avalon, The Stand and Komedia amongst others, and supporting the likes of Ed Byrne, Boyd’s status as a comedy solo favourite is secured.
