Aries Spears

Aries Spears is an American stand-up comedian and actor known for his extensive work in sketch comedy and film, offering brands a recognizable and versatile talent with a history of engaging audiences in diverse media. After gaining significant attention with his appearance on Russell Simmons’ ‘Def Comedy Jam’ in 1992, Aries Spears solidified his place in the comedy world. Earlier in his career, he honed his craft performing stand-up, delivering impressions of figures such as James Brown and Jack Nicholson at Harlem’s ‘Uptown Comedy Cafe’ starting around 1989. Following his breakthrough, Spears also performed on ‘It’s Showtime at the Apollo’ during this period.

During his eight-season tenure, he became widely recognized for developing popular original characters such as Belma Buttons and Reggie (Erascist), alongside acclaimed impressions of celebrities including Bill Cosby, Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, and Eddie Murphy. Following his impactful run on ‘MADtv,’ Spears released his well-received comedy special, ‘Aries Spears: Hollywood, Look I’m Smiling’ in 2011. He also lent his voice to animated series, notably as the character Wizard Kelly in ‘The Proud Family.’ Continuing to engage audiences across platforms, Spears co-hosted the AVN Awards in both 2018 and 2020, demonstrating his versatility as a presenter. He remains an active force in stand-up comedy, with upcoming engagements including his participation in the Riyadh Comedy Festival slated for 2025, further expanding his international reach and appeal.
