Kim Fields is a seasoned actress and director, working in the entertainment business for forty years. She has been a mainstay on American sitcoms, as evidenced by her nine-year run on the show The Facts of Life, as well as Living Single. The former (also starring Molly Ringwald) dealt with controversial issues such as drug use and sex, illuminating Fields’ aptitude for both dramatic and comic work. Her character has become iconic and an inspiration for young black girls on screen, with Tootie’s catchphrase ‘We’re in trou-ble!’ persisting in popular culture.
After graduating from Pepperdine University with a degree in telecommunications, Fields took on many acting roles, as well as expanding and diversifying her interests. She established her own production company, Victory Productions, as well as directing episodes of shows such as Living Single and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne. She directed 39 episodes of the latter.
She has also evolved into becoming a television personality herself, becoming a main cast member of the show Real Housewives of Atlanta as well as appearing on Dancing With the Stars. She documented her experiences on these shows as well as her long and storied career in her book Blessed Life. Aside from entertainment, she has also exhibited a keen political interest over the years. She works as a motivational speaker, and recently campaigned for women to vote for Biden in the upcoming US election.
