Tami Erin shot to fame in 1988 when, aged 11, she beat 8,000 other hopefuls to be cast as the title character in The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking, a major Hollywood adaptation of the classic children’s book series. Since then, she has appeared in other films, namely Kill You Twice, Don’t Just Sit There, The Little Rose, and Disconnect. She also appeared in a Christmas special film of Adult Swim’s Tim and Eric Awesome Show: Great Job.
Erin has also become a noted philanthropist over the years. She was a UNICEF ambassador and also worked with the United Nations, delivering speeches on their behalf on landmark events such as World Children’s Day. She also works closely with Hearts.com, a clothing line that involves over 2,000 artisan designers manufacturing eco-friendly clothes using recycled material for a range of international charities. She has also partnered with the likes of Create Now and La Fine (both clothing manufacturers) to design clothes whose sales raise money for various charities.
Erin was born Tamara Erin Klicman in Illinois but moved to Florida as a child. Here she became a model, signing with a prestigious agency before the role of Pippi Longstocking changed her life for good. In the years before and since her feature film debut, Erin has trained with some of the best acting coaches in America, including Jeff Corey (founder of the Actor’s Lab) and Molly McCarthy of New York’s Actor’s Studio. She has also spent time training at the American Film Institute. She has a lifetime’s worth of experience in acting and humanitarian causes that is still growing.
