Krista Pärmäkoski is a Finnish cross-country skier that’s played the Olympics three times in a row and has four medals to show for it.
When she was twelve, Pärmäkoski started training every day after school. By the time she was sixteen, she was competing throughout Finland, getting the attention of the national team, officially making her debut with them in 2009. Since then, she’s competed in the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, World Cups, World Championships, and the Olympics, earning 31 individual podiums so far.
With her performance at the Olympics, she proved herself on the international stage: in 2014, she earned silver in the 4×5 kilometer category, and then she placed again in 2018, with a silver in the 30 kilometer mass start, and two bronze medals in the ten kilometer individual and fifteen kilometer skiathlon, respectively. This success was also seen at the world championships, with three more bronzes from the 4×5 kilometer relay, a bronze and silver for the team sprint, and another silver for the fifteen kilometer skiathlon.
Pärmäkoski’s career skyrocketed in the 2016-2017 season with nine World Cup podiums and her first individual win, including second place overall in season standings.
In addition to the national team, she is currently on the Ikaalisten Urheilijat ski club. Her husband is also an acclaimed athlete who has played ice hockey for both Finland and the United States.
