Kurt Benkert

Kurt Benkert, born on July 17, 1995, in Baltimore, Maryland, embarked on his football journey in Florida, attending Cape Coral High School before transferring to Island Coast High School for his senior year. He continued his academic and athletic career at East Carolina University, redshirting in 2013 and playing in three games in 2014. A torn ACL in 2015 briefly interrupted his progress, leading to his transfer to the University of Virginia in May 2016. At Virginia, Benkert became the starting quarterback, completing 228 of 406 passes for 2,552 yards and 21 touchdowns in his first year. In 2017, he set a school record with 455 passing yards in a single game, ultimately concluding his college career with 5,817 passing yards and 46 touchdowns over 27 games.

Undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, Benkert signed with the Atlanta Falcons, where he spent three seasons, primarily on the practice squad. He also had stints with the Green Bay Packers in 2021 and the San Francisco 49ers in 2022. While with the Packers, he made his professional debut in December 2021, kneeling the ball twice in a game against the Chicago Bears. His professional football career concluded in 2023 after a brief period with the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL, where he sustained three fractured ribs.

Following his retirement from professional football in August 2023, Benkert transitioned his focus to content creation and esports. He established a significant presence on YouTube and Twitch, primarily creating content around the Madden NFL video game series. His YouTube channel, started in 2017, has accumulated over 355,000 subscribers and 106 million views as of July 2025. Benkert also joined Spacestation Gaming as an alternate for their Halo esports team, showcasing his diversification into the gaming industry. He also founded “The Dime Lab,” a venture focused on creating sports items.
