Lauren Lane is an American television and stage actress who is widely recognised for her role as C.C. Babcock on The Nanny, an American sitcom series on CBS. Lane was born in in Oklahoma and raised in Texas, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Lane began acting in 1984, when she featured in the film, Interface. Following this breakthrough, she appeared on many television shows and film, including Positive I.D., Nervous Ticks, L.A. Law and Hunter.
Lane has gained renown for her role in ‘The Nanny’, which she first took in 1993 and left in 1999 upon the ending of the show. During these years, she also appeared on many shows including ‘The Daily Show’. In the film Gen13, a superhero film based on a comic book, Lane was the voice of Ivana Baiul in 2000 and in 2004 she starred again in ‘The Nanny’ for a one-hour special, ‘The Nanny Reunion: A Nosh to Remember’.
In 2010, she appeared on ‘The Fran Drescher Show’ and she has also performed in shows at Zachary Scott Theatre in Texas.
She is highly regarded by many in the arts industry and is on the faculty of the Department of Theatre and Dance and Texas State University. Talented on screen and off, she has performed in many stage productions over the years, including ‘Harvey’ (2013), ‘God of Carnage’ (2011), ‘Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike’ (2014) and many more.
