Alison Fernandez was born on July 20, 2005, in Brooklyn, New York. She began her acting career at the age of five, developing an early interest through school plays and Brooklyn’s Narrows Community Theater. This early engagement led her to professional acting classes, commercial work, and voice-overs. Her initial career progression involved appearances in PBS children’s shows, and she later moved to Los Angeles to pursue broader opportunities in acting. Her father, Manuel Fernandez, has managed her career since its inception, and her older sister, Sabrina, is also an actress. Fernandez received formal education in acting for theater, singing, and choreography from A Class Act N.Y.
Her professional acting debut came in 2011 with a recurring role as Zara Amaro in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” a role she held for 10 episodes across seasons 13 to 16. In 2014, she made her film debut in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” as Rosa Mendez, and also appeared in “MOMMAP” as Amy Garcia. The mid-2010s saw her diversification into various television guest roles, including “Fresh Off the Boat,” “Another Period,” and a recurring role as Young Jane in “Jane the Virgin” from 2016 to 2019. Further expanding her film credits, she lent her voice to “Only Yesterday” and “The Curious Kitty & Friends” in 2016, and was seen as Delilah in the 2017 X-Men film “Logan” and Paz in “An American Girl Story: Summer Camp, Friends for Life.
Fernandez continued to build a significant portfolio with key roles in major productions. From 2017 to 2018, she portrayed Lucy Mills/Lucy Vidrio for 24 episodes in “Once Upon a Time,” starting as a guest in Season 6 and becoming a main cast member in Season 7. She also recurred as Eva in Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” from 2013 to 2017. Her work in 2018 included the TV movie “Life-Size 2” alongside Tyra Banks and Francia Raisa, where she played Lex.
