Leah Davis wears a few hats — radio presenter, stand-up, event host, voiceover artist and podcaster — and somehow makes them feel like one unfolding story. She read French with Politics & International Relations at Royal Holloway, cut her teeth on Insanity Radio, then moved into internships at Columbia Records and Capital Xtra. Those early doors led, naturally, to her late show on Capital XTRA (Mon–Thu, 10pm–1am) and a Saturday early-morning slot (6am–9am) that wakes up London on purpose.
Comedy came later. In 2022 she began gigging and did over 50 sets on the London open-mic circuit in her first year — a rapid apprenticeship that saw her named Finalist at Funny Women ’22, semi-finalist in British Comedian of the Year 2022 and winner of Beat the Blackout at Up The Creek. In 2023 she was crowned Face of Comedy. Her stage is polished but mischievous: routines about waxing, growing up as the only black girl in a small Wiltshire town, and the little lies we tell ourselves. Dark, surreal, classy. And sharp.
Leah’s literary itch surfaces in the Capital XTRA Book Club podcast (Spotify, Apple Podcasts) where conversations with guests like Amber Rose-Gill, Candice Brathwaite and Malorie Blackman tackle racial injustice and female empowerment. She’s appeared on BBC Radio 4’s A Good Read, at Cheltenham and Henley festivals, Headliners’ online festival and the Amplify Awards (2021). She’s written for Netflix’s Too Hot To Handle and contributes to Sistem Magazine.
She adapts — soft London accent, neutral when needed — and brings a stage presence that calms or charges a room. Next set: Saturday, 8.30pm at Big Belly Bar & Comedy Club, London (PAID SPOTS). Bookings: Great British Speakers, +44 1753 439 289. She does this because she likes making people feel less alone. Simple as that.
