The stylish Lee Hendrie is a former professional footballer and Aston Villa legend. He now works as a football pundit for Sky Sports. Aside from his playing career he is also a director of FootieBugs, an organisation that provides football-based activities and events for children aged 2 to 7.
Born and raised in Solihull, Hendrie showed a natural talent for football at a young age. He joined the Aston Villa Youth Academy in 1993, and a year later he made his first team debut, going on to achieve the Young Player of the Season award in their 1997-98 season. He remained at Villa until 2007, making 251 appearances and scoring 27 goals for the Midlands side. In 2006 he went on loan to Stoke City, and in July 2007 he joined Sheffield United on a free. He then moved around quite a bit, playing at Leicester City and Blackpool on loan, before signing with Derby County in 2009. He was loaned out to Brighton & Hove Albion in 2010, and then signed with Bradford City. In 2011 he travelled to the Far East to play for the Indonesian club Bandung. However, the club folded at the end of the season, and Hendrie returned to England where he became a journeyman in non-league football. After making a couple of appearances for Basford United in the 2013-14 season, he retired from the game. Hendrie appeared twelve times for the England U-21 team, scoring five goals, and also earned one cap for the senior team. He moved into media, and now works as a pundit for Sky Sports.
Hendrie regularly connects with his legions of followers and fans through Instagram, posting pictures and videos about his life around football and broadcasting. He is also available for that personalised shout-out through the cameo platform.
