Bob West began his prolific voice-over career in 1977, lending his distinctive voice to iconic characters including Jasper T. Jowls, Pasqually, and Mr. Munch for Chuck E. Cheese’s ride attractions.
His career-defining role began in 1988 as the original voice of Barney the Dinosaur in Barney and the Backyard Gang. West continued to embody the beloved character for the globally popular children’s television series Barney & Friends, starring in 128 episodes from 1992 to 2000. During this period, he also voiced Mr. Toodles on Barney & Friends and contributed to numerous video productions, including Barney’s Musical Castle (2001), Barney: Rhyme Time Rhythm (2000), Barney: Let’s Play School!
Demonstrating his versatile design capabilities across mediums, he transitioned into significant graphic design roles for television, beginning with The Muppets. from 2015 to 2016 across eight episodes. West’s graphic design expertise continued to be sought after for major network productions, significantly impacting the visual storytelling of numerous series. He was a key graphic designer for 62 episodes of Speechless (20162019), 20 episodes of The Mick (20172018), and 24 episodes of Single Parents (20182020).
Further television credits include five episodes of The Rookie (2021), an uncredited episode of 9-1-1: Lone Star (2020), and eight episodes of Love, Victor (2022). His film graphic design contributions include The Sweet Life (2016), Aztec Warrior (2016), and Wish Upon (2017). Most recently, West has applied his design acumen to contemporary streaming and television projects, contributing to six episodes of Swimming with Sharks in 2022 and ten episodes of The Muppets Mayhem in 2023.
