Bob West was born in Finleyville, Pennsylvania, USA. He began his career in voice-over in 1979. He is widely recognized as the original voice of Barney the Dinosaur in the popular children’s television series *Barney & Friends*. West voiced Barney from 1992 to 2000, participating in 128 episodes of the TV series and numerous video productions such as *Barney’s Musical Castle* (2001), *Barney: Rhyme Time Rhythm* (2000), *Barney: Let’s Play School!* (1999), *More Barney Songs* (1999), *Walk Around the Block with Barney* (1999), *Barney’s Night Before Christmas* (1999), *Barney: What a World We Share* (1999), *Sing and Dance with Barney* (1999), *Barney’s Halloween Party* (1998), *Barney’s Big Surprise* (1998), and *Barney Under the Sea* (1998). His work as Barney extended to video games like *Barney Under the Sea* (1997) and *Barney’s Hide & Seek Game* (1993), and the TV show *Barney and the Backyard Gang* (1988).
