American actor, comedian and writer Lenny Clarke is well-known for his stand-up comedy and his appearances in numerous TV shows and films.
Growing up in Massachusetts, early on in his comedy career during the 1980s, Clarke was renowned for being one of Boston’s top comics, going on to star in the documentary When Stand-up Stood Out, alongside other famous comedians of the time, including Denis Leary and Steven Wright. Of his other earlier comedy projects, Clarke wrote and hosted his show, Lenny Clarke’s Late Show and his 1990 sitcom, Lenny. Since then Clarke has gone on to make guest appearances on popular US TV shows, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel and more recently in 2019, The Joe Regan Experience. As an actor, Clarke is best known for his role as Uncle Teddy on the TV series Rescue Me. Other sitcoms Clarke has starred in, include The Winner and Brothers for Fox TV and the NBC comedy, Are You There, Chelsea? On the big screen, Clarke has featured in well-known films including There’s Something About Mary, Me, Myself & Irene and Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events. Of his latest roles, Clarke also starred in Ted 2, Ghostbusters and Stronger.
Alongside his acting roles and stand-up comedy, Clarke has held positions as a writer on several popular comedy shows, including The Sunday Comics, Comedy Central Presents and the comedy short, Dirty Oober.
