About

Patrick Dhane Lanshaw, known professionally as Lil Wyte, was born on October 6, 1982, in Memphis, Tennessee. His early life in Frayser saw him develop a talent for rapping, initially through memorizing songs like Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back” and later engaging in high school freestyle battles. Encouraged by a friend to write his own material, he adopted the moniker “Lil Wyte.” Although he left high school, he later earned his diploma, demonstrating a commitment to personal growth alongside his burgeoning musical career.

Lil Wyte’s music career began as part of a local rap collective, the Shelby Forest Click. His talent soon captured the attention of the influential Memphis group Three 6 Mafia. Juicy J and DJ Paul formally signed him, marking a pivotal moment in his career. In 2002, he made an appearance on Project Pat’s track “Crash da Club” from the album “Layin’ da Smack Down.” His debut album, “Doubt Me Now,” released in 2003 through Hypnotize Minds, achieved significant success, selling over 135,000 copies independently. This album featured collaborations with artists such as Juvenile, Three 6 Mafia, Frayser Boy, La Chat, and Josey Scott, and included popular tracks like “Oxy Cotton,” “My Smoking Song,” and “Acid.”

Throughout his career, Lil Wyte has maintained a consistent presence in the Southern hip-hop scene, releasing multiple studio albums and mixtapes. His discography includes further solo albums like “Phinally Phamous” (2004), “The One and Only” (2007), and “The Bad Influence” (2009), which charted on the Billboard 200, U.S. R&B, and U.S. Rap charts. He has also engaged in extensive collaborative projects, notably releasing several albums with Jelly Roll, including “Year Round” (2011), “No Filter” (2013), and “No Filter 2” (2016). His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his independent label, Wyte Music. Demonstrating versatility beyond music, he created his own medical cannabis strain, OG WYTE Kush, combining OG Kush, White Widow, and Grand Daddy Purp, which is available in multiple states.
