British vlogger Madeleine Olivia denies all claims that she’s a “lifestyle guru”, but her passion for minimalist, sustainable living and healthy vegan food have made her a massive success on social media and beyond. Her self-titled YouTube channel has more than 550,000 subscribers, and that number is growing all the time. She also has a further 100,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok. Her first book, Minimal: How to Simplify Your Life and Live Sustainably, became an Amazon bestseller and was featured in the likes of The Daily Telegraph, The Times, The Guardian, Grazia, Glamour, and more.
Olivia’s journey to the top began at the bottom: it was Christmas 2015, and she was working in a job she hated, living in a cramped flat with her boyfriend and sister. She quit her job, left the flat, and went home to her mum, determined to find a different life path and achieve her dream of running her own business. As 2016 dawned, she set up a YouTube channel and began uploading content every week, vlogging her thoughts on veganism, minimalism, and her journey of self-discovery. Her videos connected with people all over the world, and before long, she had a fast-growing audience who wanted to follow her next recipe or just hear what she had to say.
By 2018, her YouTube channel was her full-time job, and it has been ever since. She and her boyfriend are now also working on renovating a Georgian cottage in Cornwall, a project that has attracted more than 28,000 followers on Instagram.
