Maribel Guardia, born Maribel Del Rocío Fernández García on May 29, 1959, in San Jose, Costa Rica, embarked on a prominent career in entertainment after being crowned Miss Costa Rica in 1978. She represented her country in both the Miss Universe 1978 pageant, where she earned the Miss Photogenic award, and the Miss World 1978 pageant, placing as a top 15 semi-finalist. These early achievements provided her with an entry into the Mexican entertainment industry after receiving an offer from Televisa producer Sergio Bustamante. Although she initially returned to Costa Rica, she later accepted the offer, relocating to Mexico in 1980, a move that proved pivotal for her career.

Since 1980, Maribel Guardia has built a diverse career across acting, singing, and television hosting. She made her television debut alongside Manuel “El Loco” Valdés and went on to star in numerous telenovelas. Notable acting roles include her performances in “Terror and Black Lace” (1986), “La Alacrana” (1986), and “El asesino del zodiaco” (1993). Her work in television includes main roles in “Seducción” (1986), “Tú y yo” (1996-97) alongside Joan Sebastian, “Serafín” (1999), “Aventuras En El Tiempo” (2001), “Misión S.O.S. aventura y amor” (2004-05), “¡Qué madre tan padre!” (2006), “Niña de mi Corazón” (2010), “Crown of Tears” (2012–2023), and “Albertano contra los mostros” (2022). She has also appeared in films like “Pedro Navaja” and “El Rey de Los Taxistas.”

Parallel to her acting, Maribel Guardia launched a successful music career in the Norteño genre, releasing her debut album in 1988. She has recorded with Musart Records, Fonovisa Records, EMI Televisa Music, and Capitol Records. In 2010, she released “Move You On – Muévete,” featuring tracks in both Spanish and English. Her consistent work and public presence led to her induction into the Paseo de las Luminarias in Mexico City. She married Marco Chacón in late 2010 and continues to maintain an active presence in the entertainment industry.
