After being drafted by the Florida Marlins in the seventh round in 2010, Mark Canha steadily progressed through the minor league system, demonstrating consistent offensive output. He developed his skills across various levels, including Single-A Greensboro Grasshoppers, High-A Jupiter Hammerheads, and Double-A Jacksonville Suns, before notably achieving a career-high .303 batting average, 20 home runs, and 82 RBI with the Triple-A New Orleans Zephyrs in 2014.
