Matt Vinc is a Canadian professional lacrosse goaltender with an outstanding reputation in the world of lacrosse. Playing for the National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Rochester Knighthawks, Vinc has consistently proven himself as one of the most formidable goaltenders of his generation.
Born on June 9, 1982, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Vinc was introduced to lacrosse at a young age. With family members playing in the Ontario Lacrosse Association, he knew he had big shoes to fill. Vinc attended Canisius College, where he played as a goalkeeper for their Men’s lacrosse team.
Vinc began his professional career in 2005 when he signed with the Tewaaraton Titans of the National Lacrosse League. Since then, he has played for eight different teams in the league. Vinc’s skill and ability on the field have earned him numerous accolades throughout his career, including nine Goaltender of the Year titles and three NLL championships.
Aside from his success in the NLL, Vinc has represented Canada on the international stage. He was part of the Canadian national team that won the gold medal at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in 2015 and 2019.
With 15 seasons under his belt, Vinc’s career statistics are nothing less than exceptional. He currently holds the record for career saves with over 8,100 along with a save percentage of .788. Despite his achievements, Vinc remains humble and continues to strive for excellence on and off the field.
Outside of lacrosse, Vinc has been an ambassador for the sport, often traveling to different communities, promoting the game and inspiring young players to follow their dreams. His dedication to the sport, unwavering passion, and sheer talent make him one of the greatest goaltenders to have ever played the game of lacrosse.
