Maycee ‘The Future’ Barber is the rising star of female MMA fighting. At just 22 years old, this dynamo burst onto the amateur scene, being snapped up after a single victory to compete against seasoned competitors. Currently fighting in the flyweight division of the sport, Barber is currently signed to Ultimate Fighting Championship, the globally recognised premium Mixed Martial Art Promotion Company and as of 2021, she is ranked fourteenth in the UFC women’s flyweight rankings.
Coming from a highly competitive and sporting family, Barber grew up to be active. Her parents owned their own martial arts academy in her native Colorado and after starting karate at the tender age of three years old, Barber never looked back. At thirteen years old, she was already eligible to instruct adults in jiu jitsu, and it was then she decided she wanted to become an MMA fighter, turning pro six years later after winning her first amateur fight in just twenty seconds. Initially joining Legacy Fighting Alliance, in 2018 UFC scouted her and offered her the chance to compete on Dana White’s Contender Series. When she earned a stoppage in the third round of her fight against Jamie Colleen, she received a UFC contract and won her first three matches via knockout in either the first or second round and is tied with only two other contenders for the most knockout wins in UFC Flyweight division history.
Outside of the ring, Barber is frequently posting to her various social media profiles where she boasts an audience of over 378,800 followers across her different social media platforms and over 3 million views on YouTube. She is currently scheduled to face Miranda Maverick in July 2021.
