Melissa Satta was born on February 7, 1986, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, to Italian parents from Sardinia. She spent her early years living in both the U.S. and Sardinia. Her father, Enzo Satta, was an architect and a Sardinian government politician, involved in the architectural planning of Costa Smeralda. Melissa has an older brother, Riccardo, and a younger brother, Maximilian. She completed high school in the United States and enrolled in Communication studies at IULM University in Milan. Satta also has a background in sports, having played women’s football and practiced karate, winning the Sardinian Junior Karate Championships and a national junior bronze medal.
Satta’s career in the fashion industry began at age 16 in 2002. She gained early recognition in 2003 as a finalist in the Miss Wall beauty contest, where she earned the title of Miss Extreme. Her television career started in 2005 as a presenter on the Italian television program “Mio fratello è Pakistano” on Canale 5. The same year, she became a spokesperson for TIM advertising. From 2006 to 2008, Satta was a showgirl on the satirical series “Striscia la notizia.” She appeared in several Mediaset television programs and had a minor role in the Italian film “Bastardi” in 2006. She also walked the catwalks at Milan Fashion Week for the Pin Up Stars collection.
Her career continued to evolve with co-hosting MTV Italy’s “Total Request Live” in 2007 and presenting on Fashion TV. In 2008, she co-presented the Italian quiz show “First and Last” on Rai 1. In 2009, Satta became the advertising face for Peugeot 107 “Sweet Years” and later replaced a Chilean model as the female face of the Italian talk show “Controcampo” on Rete 4. She also presented for Victoria’s Secret that year. In February 2010, Satta was featured in the “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue” with a body painting representing the Italy national football team jersey. She also appeared on the June 2010 cover of Maxim magazine. Satta presented “Insideout (Tutti pazzi per la scienza)” on Rai 2 in 2011 and was a testimonial for multinational brands like Nike and Nicole. By 2013, she was co-presenting the Italian sports program “TikiTaka” on Italia 1.
