Michael Bay is a highly commercially successful film director and producer known for his big-budget action films with extensive visual effects. After earning the prestigious Grand Prix Clio for Commercial of the Year in 1993 for his ‘Got Milk/Aaron Burr’ spot and being honored by the Directors Guild of America as Commercial Director of the Year in 1995, Michael Bay transitioned to feature films, directing the 1995 hit Bad Boys. Starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, the film grossed over $160 million worldwide, solidifying Bay’s reputation for high-octane blockbusters and establishing a significant partnership with producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Bays earlier career at Propaganda Films saw him direct numerous acclaimed commercials and music videos for major brands including Nike, Reebok, Coca-Cola, Budweiser, and Miller Lite, earning multiple MTV award nominations and showcasing his distinctive visual storytelling.
In 2017, Bay was honored with a hand-and-footprint ceremony at The TCL Chinese Theatre, coinciding with the release of Transformers: The Last Knight. His recent directing credits include the Netflix action film 6 Underground (2019) and the critically acclaimed thriller Ambulance (2022). Michael Bay also continues to expand his production ventures, having founded Bay Films. In 2024, he directed and executive produced the TV series Born Evil: The Serial Killer and the Savior and is currently developing a new ‘Skibidi Toilet’ franchise.
