Michael Connelly

Michael Connelly, a celebrated American author, earned a Pulitzer Prize finalist nomination for his investigative work covering the 1985 Delta Flight 191 plane crash. This recognition followed his tenure as a crime beat writer for the Daytona Beach News-Journal and the Fort Lauderdale News and Sun-Sentinel beginning in 1981, where he covered the South Florida cocaine wars. Moving to the Los Angeles Times as a crime reporter in 1987, Connelly’s debut novel, The Black Echo (1992), introduced his iconic character, Detective Hieronymus ‘Harry’ Bosch. The novel secured the Mystery Writers of America’s Edgar Award for Best First Novel in 1992, leading Connelly to transition to full-time writing by 1995.

In 2022, he partnered with David E. Kelley to adapt his short story Avalon into a TV series for ABC, and he is executive producing the upcoming Ballard TV series, based on his Renee Ballard novels. Most recently, in 2024, Michael Connelly hosted and wrote The Wonderland Massacre & The Secret History of Hollywood, a documentary series for MGM+. His enduring appeal and consistent delivery of best-selling crime and detective novels, alongside his integral role in their adaptations across film and television, underscore his position as a leading figure in the entertainment landscape.
