Michael Joseph Glennon was born on December 12, 1989, in Centreville, VA. His football career began at Westfield High School in Fairfax County, Virginia, where he led his team to an undefeated 15-0 record and a Virginia Division 6 AAA State championship title. He was recognized as the Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year and a Parade magazine high school All-American. Subsequently, Glennon attended North Carolina State University, playing for the Wolfpack from 2008 to 2012. After redshirting his first year and serving as backup quarterback to Russell Wilson, he became the starter in 2011. During his college career, he completed 646 of 1,069 passes for 7,411 yards with 63 touchdowns and 31 interceptions, holding a passer rating of 132.3. He also earned two degrees from NC State: a bachelor’s in Business Management and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies, focusing on leadership and sports management.
Glennon was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round (73rd overall pick) of the 2013 NFL Draft. In his rookie year, he started 13 games, throwing for 2,608 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions, earning a spot on the Pro Football Writer’s Association’s All-Rookie Team. Over his NFL career, which spanned from 2013 to 2021, Glennon played for several teams, including the Chicago Bears (2017), Arizona Cardinals (2018), Oakland Raiders (2019), Jacksonville Jaguars (2020), and New York Giants (2021), and was briefly with the Miami Dolphins (2022). Across 40 games, he accumulated 7,025 passing yards, 47 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions, along with one rushing touchdown. His professional journey reflects adaptability and resilience in a demanding athletic environment.
Following his NFL career, in May 2023, Mike Glennon retired from professional football and ventured into a new career path as a real estate broker.
