Miralem Pjanić is a Bosnian professional footballer that is best known for playing as a midfielder for Serie A club Juventus as well as the Bosnian and Herzegovina national team. Pjanić is a highly regarded player and has earned the nickname ‘Il Pianista’, meaning ‘the Pianist’, owing to his creativity on the pitch and in reference to his surname.
Having started his career at Metz, he quickly moved up the ranks and signed for Lyon in 2008 before signing with Roma in 2011.
While playing for Rome, he earned a reputation as one of the most talented and prolific midfielders in Serie A. 2016 saw Pjanić move to Juventus, and since then he has become a vital player in the team and has won four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias and has been dubbed Serie A Team of the Year on several occasions.
Pjanić is set to transfer to Barcelona in 2020 and join the team in Spain, as the fans and the club look ahead to a promising addition to the squad. In 2015 he was ranked 55th in The Guardian’s list of ‘The 100 best footballers in the world’ and in 2019 he was ranked 50th. When Pjanić joins Barcelona, he will be playing alongside famed and renowned players such as Messi and Suarez.
