Molly McCann transitioned from a successful mixed martial arts career to professional boxing, aiming for a world title. After securing the Shock N’ Awe Flyweight Championship and successfully defending it once, Molly McCann went on to establish a dominant presence in the mixed martial arts arena. Having made her professional MMA debut in 2013, McCann quickly rose through the ranks, culminating in her capturing the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship Women’s Flyweight Championship in 2018 following a victory over Bryony Tyrell. This impressive run earned her a formidable 7-1 professional record, positioning her for the sport’s highest stage.
McCann joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in May 2018, marking a significant milestone in her career. Following an initial setback, she rapidly gained traction with a series of unanimous decision victories, defeating Priscila Cachoeira (2019), Ariane Lipski (2019), and Diana Belbi?? (2019). Her exciting and aggressive fighting style resonated with fans and promoters, leading to her signing a new four-fight contract with the UFC. Her tenure in the UFC was further highlighted by earning ‘Fight of the Night’ honors against Ji Yeon Kim in 2021.
In June 2021, McCann also authored and released her book, ‘Be True To You: A story about coming out.’ In a strategic career evolution, McCann announced her retirement from mixed martial arts in March 2025, concluding her MMA chapter after a final fight at UFC Fight Night against Alexia Thainara. Transitioning to professional boxing, she signed with Matchroom Boxing in July 2025. Her professional boxing debut in September 2025 at Windsor Park in Belfast was a resounding success, achieving a TKO victory over Kate Radomska. McCann is now focused on pursuing her ambition to secure a world title in boxing, a goal she intends to achieve within her first eight professional fights.
