Formed after appearing on the reality TVshow No Mercy, Monsta X are a seven-piece K-pop group with a truly unique soundthat blends hip-hop, EDM and synth-pop. The name Monsta X has a dual meaning.First, it can be understood as “the monsters that will take over the Korean Popscene,” and second, the name can be understood as My Star (Mon meaning My inFrench), with X representing an unknown element.
In 2015, the group had their US performancedebut, taking home two accolades from the Mnet Asian Music Awards. 2016 startedoff with an appearance on the Chinese survival program The Remix, and it wasalso the year when the group launched an ambitious musical project called THECLAN, which would be split in two and a half parts. Riding a massive wave ofhype, the group entered 2017 with an eagerly anticipated international tour,and the release of their first studio album. They would go on to launch theirown variety show, Monsta X-Ray, in the same year. The momentum kept growing,and in 2018, the group served as torchbearers, each member passing on theOlympic torch for the Seoul leg of the ceremony. The group made K-Pop historyin the same year, when they became the first Korean group to perform on theJingle Ball tour alongside household names such as Camila Cabello, Cardi B, andShawn Mendes.
Monsta X have accumulated over 26 nationaland international awards, starred in 4 movies and 10 reality shows, andreceived sponsorships from iconic brands such as Tony Moly, Moncler and CapitalOne. Their latest album, ‘Take.2 We Are Here’ features collaborations with EDMsuperstar Steve Aoki.
