Masson was born in Hudson, New Hampshire, in August 1996. He began studying dance when he was just three years old, and by the time he reached the age of ten, he was making his professional stage debut in a Broadway touring production of the classic children’s film, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. He continued to build his resume with similarly high-profile productions and majored in dance at university in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Masson joined the cast of Newsies: The Musical in 2014 and toured with it for two years, playing a variety of roles, including Bill, Davie, Crutch, and Mush. It was as the latter that he became most closely identified thanks to playing the role in a performance of the show that was filmed by Disney and released in 2017 on Netflix.
