Nina Conti

Nina Conti gained significant industry recognition in 2002, winning the BBC New Comedy Awards, securing second place in the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year, and third in the ‘Laughing Horse New Act of the Year’ competitions. Her professional acting career commenced in 1996, where she gained early experience in Ken Campbell’s acclaimed productions of ‘The Warp’ in 1999 and 2000. Campbell, an influential experimental theatre director, further devised the unique ventriloquist play ‘Let Me Out!!!’ specifically for Conti, which she performed to critical acclaim at the 2001 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Demonstrating her impressive versatility across theatrical disciplines, Conti was also a member of The Royal Shakespeare Company during their 2000/01 season in Stratford-upon-Avon and London.

Her acclaimed work masterfully blends traditional ventriloquism with insightful improvisation, captivating diverse audiences with her unique characters, including the cynical Monkey and the witty Granny. Most recently, Nina Conti marked a significant career milestone with the completion of filming for her debut feature film, ‘Sunlight’, in 2024. This project saw her not only write and direct but also star in the film, further establishing her multifaceted capabilities as a celebrated performer, writer, and director within the entertainment industry.
