Nirmal Purja, a distinguished mountaineer, has made remarkable strides in the world of high-altitude climbing, showcasing his exceptional skills and determination. His journey began in the British Army, where he served with the Brigade of Gurkhas and later joined the Special Boat Service (SBS). As the first Gurkha to enter this elite unit, Purja honed his expertise in cold-weather warfare, contributing significantly to various military operations while developing a strong foundation for his future endeavors in mountaineering.
Transitioning to a full-time climbing career, Purja achieved significant milestones, including his first ascent of an eight-thousander, Dhaulagiri, in 2014.
