Billy Dib is an Australian international professional boxer. He won the IBO super-featherweight title in 2008 and he held the IBF featherweight title from 2011 to 2013. Born in 1985 in Sydney, Australia, his mother was Palestinian and his father was Lebanese.
He started to box at the age of 12 to help with his asthma, which he suffered from as a child. He began competing in amateur competitions and progressed to win the title of Australian National Champion three times. He was selected to train at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Dib travelled to the UK to train with Prince Naseem Hamed who persuaded him to turn professional.
He made his professional debut in 2004 and won his first 24 contests. He won the IBO World Featherweight title in August 2008 and went on to train with Mike Tyson in the States. While in the states he signed with Golden Boy Promotions. Dib has won many trophies throughout his career, these include winning the IBO Super-Featherweight title in 2008 and winning the Interim WBC Youth World Featherweight title in 2009, the IBF World Featherweight title in 2011, he won the PABA Super Featherweight title in 2014 and the IBF Australasian Super Featherweight title in 2016.
