Odette Giuffrida

Odette Giuffrida was born on October 12, 1994, in Rome, Italy. She began her judo career at a young age, showcasing early talent in the sport. Her dedication led her to significant achievements in junior and cadet categories, including a World Cadet silver medal in 2009 and a World Junior bronze in 2013. These early successes established her as a promising athlete within the international judo community. Giuffrida’s career progression has been marked by a consistent climb through the ranks, demonstrating resilience and skill in numerous high-level competitions.

Giuffrida’s senior career further solidified her position as a top-tier judoka. She earned a silver medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics in the women’s 52 kg event, followed by a bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics in the same category. She secured her first European title in 2020 at the European Championships in Prague and has since added multiple silver medals at subsequent European Championships in 2021, 2024, and 2025. Her performance at the 2024 World Judo Championships in Abu Dhabi resulted in a gold medal in the women’s 52kg event, defeating Diyora Keldiyorova of Uzbekistan in the final match. Earlier in 2023, she had also secured a bronze at the World Championships in Doha.

Beyond her Olympic and World Championship medals, Giuffrida has accumulated numerous victories and podium finishes on the IJF World Tour. This includes multiple gold medals at Grand Slam events, such as in Abu Dhabi (2018, 2023), Brasilia (2019), Tbilisi (2021), and Astana (2023). She has also achieved gold medals in Grand Prix events in Tbilisi (2016, 2019). These consistent results highlight her sustained presence and competitiveness at the elite level of judo, making her a notable figure in the sport.
