Peter Gilroy is a comedian, actor, and writer from Newport Beach, California. He is perhaps best known as being a member of the Bath Boys, a six-man collective of internet comedians that post sketches and parodies on their respective YouTube channels. Gilroy’s channel alone has over 168,000 subscribers and has amassed nearly 18 million views.
Since making his creative debut in 2010 with Roughing It, an improvised feature film, Gilroy has been furiously creating content, becoming known for everything from Donald Trump impressions to several music video parodies (including ones by Rihanna, Shakira, Avril Lavigne, and Paul McCartney). His first recurring role in a series came in 2014 with Interns, a Bath Boys sitcom about interns at a sports agency. The series was well-received, its short episodes being viewed tens of thousands of times. His first cinematic break came three years later, in 2016, when he was cast in The Disaster Artist, a biopic about the making of The Room, a cult film legendary for being one of the best “worst” films ever made. He followed this up playing alongside the enigmatic star and writer of The Room Tommy Wiseau in Wiseau’s “audition tape” for the role of The Joker. The skit was set up by YouTube comedy channel The Nerdist and received millions of views.
Recently, Gilroy has been starring in two sitcoms that have been streamed on Facebook Watch to millions of viewers: Cruisers & Shakers and The Real Bros of Simi Valley. Part of a generation of comedians taking advantage of the many different options to get their content in front of a large audience, Gilroy and the Bath Boys team look set for continued success.
