Phil X

Phil X is a Canadian musician renowned for his lead guitar work with Bon Jovi and extensive session contributions to numerous artists. After stepping in for Bon Jovi’s lead guitarist Richie Sambora for 13 dates in 2011, Phil X went on to become an official member of the iconic rock band, solidifying his role in their studio albums and major world tours. Phil X began his musical career in 1982 by forming the hard rock band Sidinex. His early professional journey included touring with Randy Coven in 1990 and Aldo Nova in 1991, followed by a significant period with Triumph from 1992 to 1993, where he recorded ‘Edge of Excess.’ Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Phil X established himself as a prolific session guitarist, contributing to albums for major artists, notably performing the guitar solo for Our Lady Peace’s ‘Denied’ on their 1994 album ‘Naveed,’ and collaborating with Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Avril Lavigne, and Kelly Clarkson.

His expertise led to him becoming a brand ambassador for Gibson in 2019. He was also featured in the 2016 documentary ‘Hired Gun,’ showcasing his versatility and experience as a professional musician. Phil X continues to influence the guitar community through his online presence, with his YouTube channel garnering over 30 million views through demonstrations of rare and vintage guitars. With the release of Bon Jovi’s latest album ‘Forever’ in 2024, he maintains a prominent position as a lead guitarist for one of rock’s most enduring acts, while continuing to explore new ventures that highlight his unique talent and respected standing in the music world.
