Contributing a range of unforgettable performances to cult favourite TV series like Entourage, Suburgatory and Young & Hungry, Rex Lee has developed a career as one of the most distinctive actors working in Hollywood today. Winning multiple awards for his singular performances, Lee’s unmistakable talents have been turned to both drama and comedy, fields in which he excels equally.
Born in Ohio to Korean parents, Lee didn’t tread the archetypal path towards Hollywood stardom, initially dedicating his adolescence to the goal of becoming a master pianist. It wasn’t until Lee attended university and dabbled in theatre that he realised his passion for acting, subsequently landing a small series of minor roles throughout the ‘90s. Working behind the camera as a casting director, amongst other positions, in the interim, Lee landed his first major role on the fan-favourite The Entourage in 2004, playing flamboyant PA Lloyd Lee. An openly gay man himself, Lee’s captivatingly authentic performances appeared on dozens of the shows episodes and earned him two consecutive AZN Asian Excellence Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor. Almost a decade later, Lee continued to stamp his mark on the TV landscape with a series of unforgettable characters, including the hilariously ineffectual guidance counsellor Mr Wolfe in Suburgatory and the scathingly sassy Elliot Park in Young & Hungry, before returning in 2015 for Entourage’s big-screen reboot.
Lending his cutting wit, charm and charisma to reality TV appearances like Hell’s Kitchen and Celebrity Name Game, Lee continues to forge a permanent place as one of TV and Hollywood’s most likable characters.
