Controversial and outspoken Survivor contestant and first ever winner Richard Hatch has since become a reality TV show veteran. Primarily known for his unapologetic presence and win on the hit TV show Survivor’s 2000 first season, the Rhode Island native was in fact a consultant for his company and real estate agent before he released his personality to the world of entertainment.
After winning the show, he starred on Australia’s Who Wants to be a Millionare’s celebrity challenge in 2000 as well as the reality TV show Dog Eat Dog in 2002. Hatch then returned to Survivor in 2004, competing in its 8th season All-Stars edition. Now solidified as one of realty TV’s most prominent figures, he went on to star in a flurry of other popular shows as well as making cameos in films. In 2005 he competed in Bravo’s Battle of the Network Reality Stars and in 2006 played himself in the movie Another Gay Movie. One of his most high-profile appearances then came in 2011, when he competed in the 4th edition of the acclaimed Celebrity Edition of The Apprentice, followed by competing in the 2016 Biggest Loser: Temptation Nation.
Although controversial and famously opinionated, Hatch has entertained the reality TV world for now over 15 years. He is currently still living in Rhode Island and completing a PhD. And although not currently on the screen, he is sure to be continually loved as one of the entertainment world’s most fascinating and unforgettable characters and personalities.
