The coach with the golden touch, Ricky Rahne is head coach at Old Dominion University. Rahne began his football career as a three-year starting quarterback at Cornell University from 1999 to 2001, before serving as the Penn State quarterbacks coach for the 2014 and 2015 campaigns. Rahne assisted Nittany Lions quarterback Christian Hackenberg in smashing all of the team’s significant passing records. While serving as the tight ends coach at Penn State, Rahne coached Mike Gesicki, a nominee for the Mackey Award, as he shattered the tight end career records for receptions (123), receiving yards (1,419), and touchdowns (15). Gesicki was chosen for the second team in 2016 and the first team All-Big Ten in 2017.
In 2017, Rahne was named the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for Penn State. With an average of 204.9 yards per game in 2018, Penn State’s running performance was at its highest level in ten years. That was sufficient to place fifth in the Big Ten and 29th overall. That season, tackle Ryan Bates and centre Connor McGovern, both selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, lead the offensive line. Rahne assisted the Nittany Lion offence in scoring 34 points and averaging 204.9 rushing yards per game in 2019. Rahne was chosen to be the head football coach at Old Dominion University on December 9, 2019.
