Chazz Surratt has transitioned from a highly touted high school quarterback to a professional NFL linebacker. After a significant position change in college, he now brings his versatile experience and defensive acumen to the Seattle Seahawks. After leading East Lincoln High School to consecutive NCHSAA state championship victories in 2012 (2A) and 2014 (2AA), Chazz Surratt established himself as a dominant force on the field. As a highly touted quarterback, he garnered numerous accolades, including a two-time first-team Associated Press (AP) All-State selection.
In his senior year, Surratt was named North Carolina AP Offensive Player of the Year, further earning national recognition as a Parade All-America and Parade National Player of the Year. His record-setting high school career culminated in an impressive 229 career touchdowns, setting a new state record. Surratt then matriculated to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, recruited initially as a quarterback, where he redshirted in 2016 and started in the 2017 season. A pivotal moment in Surratt’s collegiate career came before the 2019 season with the return of Head Coach Mack Brown, when he made a strategic decision to transition from quarterback to linebacker.
His career trajectory, from a record-setting high school quarterback to a successful collegiate linebacker and now a dedicated NFL linebacker, underscores his ability to excel in diverse roles at the highest levels of competition.
