About

Rie Hata is a Filipino-Japanese dancer, choreographer, and director. She developed an interest in dance from a young age, influenced by her Filipino mother who introduced her to Western music and dance. She initially trained in Old School Hip Hop and New Jack styles. At the age of 15, Hata moved to Los Angeles to advance her dance career, where she expanded her training to include Ballet and Jazz. Her distinctive ‘swag’ style, combined with her confidence and fashion sense, contributed to her gaining international recognition. By the age of 19, she was touring globally, teaching her unique choreographies in more than 20 countries.

Her career progressed with significant opportunities in the entertainment industry. In 2010, she performed as a backup dancer for Lady Gaga. She also co-starred in Chris Brown’s music video and participated in his tour in the Philippines in 2015. Hata’s specific style led her to work within the K-Pop industry, where she choreographed for prominent idol groups. She is known for her work on tracks such as BTS’s “Idol” and “Mic Drop,” TWICE’s “Signal,” NCT U’s “Boss,” and Red Velvet’s “Bad Boy.” Her extensive experience in dance and choreography led her to form and direct her own dance group, RH Tokyo.

In a notable career highlight, Rie Hata, along with her crew RH Tokyo, competed in “Street Woman Fighter 3,” a Korean reality dance competition. This competition featured dance crews from various countries including Korea, Australia, the USA, New Zealand, and Japan, performing in different missions. Her participation in this program further cemented her reputation. Rie Hata continues to expand her career, regularly sharing her work and classes through her social media channels.
