London born actress, singer and model Rita Simons is best known for playing the part of Roxy Mitchell in Britain’s favourite soap opera, EastEnders. As a key member of the cast for over a decade, Simons received distinction for her captivating performance, earning the 2008 National Television Most Popular Newcomer Award. After leaving EastEnders, Simons appeared in London action-crime movie The Krays: Dead Man Walking and participated in the 2018 edition of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!
The niece of billionaire businessman Lord Alan Sugar, Simons was raised in Essex. She made her screen debut playing in five-piece girl group Girls@Play, recording several hit singles, including the highly-charting songs ‘Airhead’ and ‘Respectable’. Simons made her acting debut in television series Dream Team and Mile High, leaving a strong impression on audiences before taking on the role of a lifetime after being invited to join the cast of EastEnders.
After a decade spent appearing on the series, Simons gave memorable stage performances in Snow White at the Marlowe Theatre before appearing in Legally Blonde: The Musical on their 2017 UK tour.
