Robert Duncan MacIntyre was born on August 3, 1996, in Oban, Scotland. He developed an early interest in sports, including shinty, before focusing on golf. MacIntyre attended McNeese State University from 2014 to 2015, where he continued to refine his golf skills. His amateur career was marked by several victories, including the Scottish Youths Championship, Scottish Boys Open Stroke-Play Championship (both in 2013), and the Scottish Amateur in 2015. He also represented Scotland in the 2016 Eisenhower Trophy and competed in the 2017 Walker Cup, showcasing his talent on national and international amateur stages.
MacIntyre turned professional in late 2017. His professional debut included a victory at the Sahara Kuwait Championship on the MENA Golf Tour in October 2017. He secured a 2018 Challenge Tour card and later earned a place on the European Tour for 2019 after a strong performance, finishing 12th in the Challenge Tour Order of Merit. In 2019, he quickly made an impact on the European Tour, achieving multiple runner-up finishes and a notable T6 finish in his Open Championship debut. His career progression continued with his first European Tour title at the Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Showdown in November 2020. In September 2022, he claimed his second European Tour win at the DS Automobiles Italian Open. A significant turning point came in 2023, when he played a key role in the European team’s victory at the Ryder Cup, going undefeated with a 2-0-1 record as a rookie. In 2024, MacIntyre achieved his first two PGA Tour wins, taking home the RBC Canadian Open and the Genesis Scottish Open. He also finished second at the 2025 U.S. Open and secured his fourth European Tour victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2025. These achievements have solidified his position as a prominent figure in professional golf.
