Rodrigo de la Serna leads the cast in the Paramount+ original film “El Salto de Papá,” inspired by the memoir of Argentine Martin Sivak. He also starred in Daniela Goggi's "The Rescue: The Weight of the World" on Paramount+, portraying the tense transition from dictatorship to democracy in 1980s Argentina.
Born on April 18, 1976, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Lionel Rodrigo de la Serna began his acting career with roles in smaller productions such as “Same Love, Same Rain” and “Nuts for Love.” In 2000, he gained early recognition for his portrayal of Ricardo Riganti in the Canal 7 series “Okupas,” which later became an Argentine cult classic. This early work laid the foundation for his career in both cinema and television in Argentina.
De La Serna achieved significant international acclaim in 2004 for his performance as Alberto Granado in the biopic “The Motorcycle Diaries.” For this role, he received a Silver Condor award for Best Actor and an Independent Spirit Award for “Best Debut Performance.” He also earned nominations for a BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor and a Golden Globe Award. Following this, he starred in several Argentine television series including “El Puntero” and “Tiempos Compulsivos,” for which he received multiple Martín Fierro Awards. His career has also included leading roles in historical films such as “Revolución: El Cruce de los Andes” (2010), where he played José de San Martín, and “Chiamatemi Francesco” (2015), where he portrayed a young Pope Francis.
In recent years, De La Serna further expanded his global presence by joining the cast of the Netflix series “Money Heist” in 2019, playing the character Palermo in parts three and four. This role brought him widespread international attention. His filmography also includes “Yucatán” (2018), “To Steal from a Thief” (2016), which earned him a Goya Award nomination for Best New Actor, and “The Rescue: The Weight of the World” (2023). Beyond his acting, he is also a musician and a member of the music group El Yotivenco, formed in 2005.
