Jason Mewes

Jason Mewes is an American actor, comedian, film producer, and podcaster known for his long-standing collaboration with director Kevin Smith. After making his film debut in Kevin Smith’s independent film Clerks in 1994, Jason Mewes went on to establish himself as a distinctive American actor, comedian, film producer, director, and podcaster, renowned for his enduring collaboration with Smith. His breakout role as Jay in Clerks defined a significant public persona and marked the beginning of a multi-decade professional partnership. Mewes quickly followed this success, starring in additional View Askewniverse films including Mallrats in 1995, Chasing Amy in 1997, and Dogma in 1999.

His early career also included a cameo appearance in Scream 3 and national Nike commercials in 1998, broadening his reach beyond independent cinema. Mewes continued to expand his presence within the View Askewniverse and beyond, reprising his iconic role as Jay in various media. He lent his voice to Clerks: The Animated Series from 2000 to 2002 and starred in the feature film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back in 2001. His collaboration with Kevin Smith extended into the mid-2000s with Clerks II in 2006 and a starring role in Zack and Miri Make a Porno in 2008.

He returned to his seminal role in Clerks III in 2022, continuing his involvement in the beloved series. Looking ahead, Mewes is set to appear in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in 2025, underscoring his continued presence in both film and interactive entertainment.
