Ronnie Aaron Killings was born on January 19, 1972, in Charlotte, North Carolina. His early life involved a love for hip hop and breakdancing, alongside participation in football and track and field at Harry P. Harding High School. Efforts to fund his music career led to legal challenges and incarceration for 13 months. Following his release, Killings was encouraged by Jackie Crockett of the National Wrestling Alliance to consider professional wrestling. After two years dedicated to his music, he contacted Crockett again and began training with Manny Fernandez, marking the beginning of his wrestling career in 1997.
Killings professional wrestling career started in the Pro Wrestling Federation (PWF) in 1997 as a manager. He went on to train and wrestle across various promotions, including NWA Wildside as K-Krush, where he won the NWA Wildside Television Championship in 1999. In 1999, he signed a developmental contract with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), adopting the ring name K-Kwik. He gained the WWF Hardcore Championship twice in 2001. After departing the WWF in 2001, Killings joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) in 2002 as Ron “The Truth” Killings. There, he made history as the first African-American NWA World Heavyweight Champion, holding the title twice. He was also part of the successful stable 3 Live Kru, which held the NWA World Tag Team Championship.
Killings returned to WWE in 2008 as R-Truth. He secured the WWE United States Championship twice and the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship with Kofi Kingston. Over the years, R-Truth became known for his comedic character, eventually holding the WWE 24/7 Championship a record 54 times, with a combined reign of 425 days. His career has also included acting roles in films such as “The Wrestler” (2008) and “Blood Brother” (2018), and he continues to release music, including his country album “The White Album” which debuted on the Billboard Country Chart. After a brief departure and return in 2025, where he adopted a more serious persona under his real name Ron Killings while retaining his R-Truth identity, he subsequently reunited with The Miz to form “Awesome Truth”, winning the World Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania XL for his first WrestleMania victory.
