Professional baseball player Royce Lewis plays for the Minnesota Twins, and was drafted by the team as their first pick in the 2017 Major League draft.
Lewis has always been a talented athlete, attending JSerra Catholic High School and being named as Los Angeles Times high school baseball player of the year in 2016. In the same year he played in the Under Armour All-American Game and the Perfect Game All-American Classic, before entering the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. He was snapped up as the Minnesota Twins first pick in the draft, going on to play for their affiliate team the Gulf Coast League Twins and the Cedar Rapids Kernels. He went on to play for the Fort Myers Miracle, and was named MVP of the Midwest League in 2018, playing for Fort Myers throughout the 2019 season and being named as part of the All Star Futures Game. Lewis’s strong performances during the year saw him selected to play for the Arizona Fall League for the Salt River Rafters, and he was named MVP of the 2019 Arizona Fall League.
Most recently, Lewis has been forced to take some time away from the game as he recovers from surgery on his ACL. He’s looking forward to a triumphant return to the pitch, and building on the impressive start he’s already had in his career.
