Ruggero Tita

Ruggero Tita, an Olympic gold medalist in sailing, secured his second gold medal in the Nacra 17 mixed multihull class at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics alongside Caterina Banti, making history as the first-ever Italian male and female athletes to achieve two successive Olympic golds in sailing. His illustrious career began with early national and international victories, including becoming Italian champion in the Optimist class in 2005, and earning European Team Race and Swiss Open titles prior to 2007. Transitioning to skiff classes, Tita achieved 4th and 6th place finishes at the 29er EuroCup events in Cavalaire and Kiel in 2008, followed by an Italian National Regatta victory in 2009. He went on to become the Italian 49er National Champion in 2010 and winner of the Italian Olympic Class Championship with Lorenzo Bianchini in 2011.

Tita’s exceptional performance has earned him widespread recognition, including being named Italian Sailor of the Year twice and receiving a nomination for the prestigious Rolex Sailor of the Year award in 2022. His deep technical understanding of sailing, particularly his affinity for foiling, is further evidenced by his co-authorship of the book ‘Foil.’ He has also lent his expertise to the world’s most competitive sailing circuit, collaborating with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team for both the 36th and 37th America’s Cups, contributing to high-performance development and strategy. Further solidifying his presence in elite-level sailing, Ruggero Tita currently serves as the driver for the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team in the SailGP league, a significant role announced in November 2024. Leveraging his analytical approach and engineering background, Tita continues to push the boundaries of performance in the sport, making him a highly sought-after talent in both competitive sailing and strategic development within the industry.
