American actor Sam Huntington is best known for playing werewolf Josh Levison, one of the stars of Being Human, the popular Canadian version of the UK supernatural series. He was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for the role, which he played for four seasons between 2011 and 2014. His other major credits include playing Jimmy Olsen in the 2006 movie, Superman Returns (one of the top ten movies of that year), and Mitchie Mendelson in the Fox police drama, Rosewood. More recently, he has had recurring roles in the series Good Girls and A Million Little Things.
Huntington was born and raised in New Hampshire. He began his acting career at the theatre run by his mother and got his first on-screen job aged 13 — playing “Joystick Johnny” alongside Friends stars Jennifer Aniston and Matthew Perry in a corporate video made to advertise Microsoft’s Windows 95 program. One of his first movie roles — as Mimi-Siku Cromwell in the Tim Allen-starring movie Jungle 2 Jungle — saw him nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Young Actor.
After further building his reputation with roles in movies such as Detroit Rock City and Not Another Teen Movie and shows such as Veronica Mars, Huntington got a big break in 2006 when he was cast in Superman Returns, which took over $300 million at the box office. His long-running role as Josh in Being Human helped to establish him as a television actor. In recent years, he has remained a regular presence on both the small and big screens and has also voiced characters in video games such as 2019’s Days Gone.
