Multi-million-selling and multi-award-winning Sara Evans is one of the undisputed queens of modern country music. Since releasing her debut album, Three Chords and the Truth, in 1997, she has released a further nine studio albums as well as live albums, compilations, EPs, and singles. To date, she has achieved two number-one US Country albums, Real Fine Place and Stronger, with the former also reaching the Top Three of the US Billboard Charts. She has also had five singles top the Country Charts and many other singles that have also crossed over into the Billboard Top 40. Her most recent release was the 2020 covers album, Copy That. She also published her autobiography, Born to Fly, the same year.
Evans was born and raised in Missouri and began performing in her family’s band when she was just five years old. Aged 20, she moved to Nashville to make in the country music business, although it would take six years of graft before she finally landed a record deal and released her debut album. Her real breakthrough came with her second album, 2000’s Born to Fly, which was eventually certified double-platinum. At the 2001 CMA Awards, she was the most-nominated artist and walked away with the Video of the Year award for the album’s title track. The rest of the decade belonged to her as her music began to resonate with pop music fans as much as hardened country purists.
30 years after she first moved to Nashville, Evans remains highly active and a beacon for all aspiring country music female artists.
