Sean Casey

Sean Casey has established a career as an IMAX filmmaker and storm chaser, known for his work in documenting severe weather phenomena and developing specialized vehicles for this purpose. After gaining widespread recognition for his appearances in the Discovery Channel reality television series ‘Storm Chasers,’ Sean Casey solidified his reputation as a pioneering IMAX filmmaker and storm chaser. A key project in his career was the creation of the IMAX film Tornado Alley, released in 2011, which necessitated the development of innovative vehicles to film inside tornadoes. His dedication to capturing severe weather up close led to the construction of the Tornado Intercept Vehicle (TIV) and its successor, TIV2.

Casey’s contributions were acknowledged by Discover Magazine, which named him one of the 50 best minds of 2008. He also served as Director of Photography for Forces of Nature in 2004. Casey’s work extends beyond filmmaking into the realm of practical engineering for storm chasing. He designed and built two armored trucks, TIV1 and TIV2, specifically engineered to withstand close encounters with tornadoes.
