Storm chaser and IMAX filmmaker Sean Casey is at the top of his game. Throughout his thrilling career, Casey has made chasing tornadoes look like the most exciting profession on earth. Perhaps best known for his work on “Tornado Alley,” Casey has become an unlikely star and innovative artist. As well as his formidable skills behind the camera, Casey designed the shows most prominent stars, two tornado intercept vehicles (TIVs). Through his work, Casey is raising the profile of his profession and is inspiring the next generation of filmmakers.
Hunter and gatherer, Casey uses the IMAX camera to capture the impossible and deadly. His work explores natural phenomenon that is rarely caught on camera. What’s more, Casey then takes his work to another level by telling a visual story that few could ever dream of seeing. It is perhaps this that earned Casey the 2008 “Discover” magazine’s “fifty best minds of the year” accolade. Some of Casey’s other credits include “Search for the Great Sharks,” “Marine: Earning the Title” and “Alaska: Spirit of the Wild.”
Starring on the Discovery Channel’s number one rated Sunday night cable show “Storm Chasers,” Casey has given insight into one of nature’s grandest spectacles. Spanning five seasons, it is no wonder that the behemoth “Tornado Alley” became a passion project for Casey. Exceptionally challenging, the show has taken extreme weather to another level. Visceral and magnetic, the show has garnered high praise for its high action pursuit in the face of uncertainty. Engaging with some of the most hostile parts of nature, Casey will be entertaining and educating his global audience for years to come.
