Sean Chandler was born on April 27, 1996, in Camden, New Jersey. Known as “Champ” in his hometown, he navigated a difficult childhood to excel in football. He attended Brimm Medical Arts High School, playing football for Camden High School, where he achieved recognition as the Philadelphia Inquirer Defensive Player of the Year in 2013, recording eight interceptions and returning three for touchdowns during his senior year. Chandler then committed to Temple University, choosing it over Rutgers, and was considered a three-star recruit.
At Temple, Chandler developed significantly, playing both cornerback and safety. He was a starting cornerback during his freshman and sophomore years, and then transitioned to starting free safety for his junior and senior seasons. He consistently earned All-Conference honors, receiving second-team All-AAC recognition in 2015 and 2016, and honorable mention All-AAC as a senior in 2017. Throughout his college career, he accumulated 264 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 10 interceptions over 49 games.
