Early in her prolific career, Stefanie Powers secured a contract with Columbia Pictures, where she appeared in 15 motion pictures, demonstrating her versatile talent. Her dynamic on-screen presence led to a loan-out to United Artists for the John Wayne production of ‘McLintock!’ in 1963. MGM Television subsequently acquired her contract, casting her as the lead in the acclaimed television series ‘The Girl from U.N.C.L.E.’ (1966-1967), a role that established her as a commanding screen performer. Powers also made her stage debut in ‘Under the Yum Yum Tree’ in San Francisco in 1964, a production that enjoyed a successful 12-year run.
Her tireless fieldwork in conservation through the William Holden Wildlife Foundation has earned her numerous fellowships and awards, including the Steiger Award (Germany) in 2011 for arts accomplishment and the 9th Annual Broken Glass Award by PSWIFT in 2017. Powers serves as a faculty member of the Oxford Literary Festival at Christ Church College, Oxford, where she leads forums on critical environmental issues. She has also contributed her expertise to the boards of four zoos in North America and serves as an independent board member for a cluster of mutual funds within American Funds. Demonstrating her diverse talents, Powers released her debut music CD, ‘On The Same Page,’ in 2003, and presented the PBS 13-part series, ‘Funding Your Dreams,’ offering women guidance on investment options.
